U10 Stripes v Stockport Cosmos

Chaddy Stripes 1 - 1 Stockport

Goal - Bailey

Team - Ryan, Billie, Elijah, Tom, Fatai, Hadiur, Ibrahim, Arsalan, Ellis, Zain, Bailey

Start of a big weekend for our Stripes & Hoops teams. New kit finally worn for the first time. Always guaranteed a hard game against Stockport who are masters of the darker side of football. Leaving a foot in and doubling up on challenges they get away with a lot of fouls. We had two penalties turned down in the first half, Fatai and Ellis both getting fouled when in on goal but the ref turned both appeals down.

Stockport bullied us in the first half and managed to go one up from a long range strike. Ryan had saved well early on a few occasions to keep us level but this one was out of his reach. The defence mixed with Elijah, Tom, Billie, Fatai and Hadiur just in front battled throughout the game and as the game went on learned how to stop them every time matching their physical approach. Again Tom showing some real class with his passes whilst Elijah and Fatai with Billie threw in countless tackles and blocks. Hadiur playing the makelele role again to near perfection. Going forward I told the boys to basically bully their defence back the way they were with us. Bailey threw in two hard challenges against their best player and the rest of the boys followed suit. Stockport didn't like it and from then on we were in charge. Bailey grabbed the equaliser half way through the second half with a usual blast, he then went on to hit the bar. Ibrahim twice found himself in front of goal but just couldn't get the ball beyond the keeper. Arsalan managed to get 1 on 1 with the keeper and tried a clever finish with the outside of his right foot but the keeper saved well. Ellis who ran hard again all game looked like he had grabbed a winner but the shot rose and again hit the bar. All the attacks and chances involved Zain who was very clever with his decision making and passing and also assisted Baileys goal. Overall we should have won but it was a great game to watch. The football not as fluent as it has been recently but sometimes the scrappy hard tackling games are a good learning curve. Two good teams on display today and good to see the boys match Stockport for physicality. Well done boys.

Final mention to PPL for supplying us with our new kit.
