U12 Stripes v Dukinfield Blacks

Fantastic start to the season today, playing away v Dukinfield Blacks. Tremendous performance from all the lads, everyone contributing in a 6-1 win. I couldn’t have asked or expected more 👍⚽️

Squad :-Ryan, Ismail, Luke, Elijah, Arsalan, Zain, Hadiur, Aaron, Tom, Alfie and Joseph.

The boys looked the stronger team from the start. Tom was unlucky on 3 occasions along with Hadiur, Elijah and Arsalan all going close, their keeper doing very well to keep them out. At the other end, Ryan made two excellent saves to avoid us undeservedly going behind.
The breakthrough came when Arsalan slipped a ball through to Hadiur, whose shot cannoned of the shoulder of a defender and looped over their keeper. 1-0. The same combination provided the 2nd two minutes later, Arsalan once again with the killer pass for Hadiur to run onto and score, 2-0. Just before half time a lovely passing movement saw Elijah release Hadiur down the middle, he passed wide to Joseph who sent over a great cross for Alfie to meet with a sweet shot into the net, 3-0.

Not much I could say at half time other than well played, keep it up and help & encourage each other even if mistakes were made.

Tom started the 2nd half as he did the first, being denied by a good save. A few minutes later though, we failed to clear a corner and Dukinfield pulled one back. 3-1. We immediately pressed forward and their keeper pulled off another save from a Hadiur shot, but Zain was on hand to smash the ball home to put us 4-1 up. Another good save from Ryan was followed by a breakaway by Joseph, who kept his composure in front of the net to beat the keeper and put us 5-1 up. Tom nearly made it 6 as he took a pass from Arsalan and fired against the crossbar ! However the final goal resulted from another Hadiur shot, another good save and a cracking shot from the edge of the area by Alfie who has put his marker down for goal of the season to make it 6-1. Even after this, the unluckiest player on the pitch, Tom, saw another fine effort saved by their keeper, who was easily their man of the match.

I also need to mention Ismail and Luke who had excellent games at the back, keeping the opposition forwards quiet for most of the game. Along with Elijah, we were able to build on this solid defence. In addition Aaron played primarily on the right and didn’t figure in the goals or direct assists today, but once more showed good footwork and technical ability, keeping it simple, but with the ability to skip past a defender when needed.

Some very good performances today, but my man of the match goes to Tom, who battled away when needing to defend, but who could quite easily have had 6 goals himself only for their keeper.👏👏⚽️
