U13 Reds v WestEnd

Chadderton FC Juniors under 13s Reds
Match report vs. West End (20th October 2019)
Following last week’s cup exit we were looking to extend our 100% record in the league, at home against West End.
We started with George in goal, Jack right back, Harvey and Ioan central defence and Cameron left back.  Charlie right wing, Dan, Daniel and Tyler in the middle with Kian at left wing and Kye up front.
This was a game we were always in control of and the boys played with a lot of freedom.  West End sitting off at crucial points played into our hands, especially as our fullbacks (Cameron and Jack) are attack minded.
Dan caught the eye in midfield, fast becoming one of our most consistent performers keeping it strong in midfield, ably assisted by some great tackling from Daniel and, towards the end of the first half, Himayat.
The defence mopped up when needed and George carried on his brave keeping when West End did sneak through.
But, as an attacking force, the first half was very much ours.  After a number of very good moves with Tyler and Daniel pivotal to them in midfield, the opening goal was a scrappy one – we moved the ball into the area and after a couple of blocks and not quite getting clean shots in Charlie managed to turn and bury it.
This open the floodgates.  In a ten minute spell Adam had a good chance on the right which went just wide, Dan forced a good save from their keeper and Kye was unlucky to see a shot sail wide after skipping past defenders.  When Kye slid Kian through he steadied himself and drilled the ball into the corner.  Soon after, Tyler pounced on a loose ball to make it three and when Ioan sent a great ball forward (his passing improving by the week) for Charlie to score we were firmly in control.  A goal for West End at the end of the half didn’t really take the gloss off a great half of football.
The boys really enjoyed the second half.  Harvey was unlucky with a free kick, Cameron and Jack were moved forward and pulled the strings in midfield with Ioan and Harvey rocks at the back.
Charlie was full of running and West End found him unplayable – whether that was powering down the wing to swing in a cross or jinking into the area.  That we were still only 3 up ten minutes into the second half was down to their keeper who was undoubtedly their MOTM even though he conceded a few times.
We broke down the left and some fantastic footwork from Cameron allowed him to put in a low cross for Tyler to find the net.
We thought we had made it 6 a few minutes later when Jack ran onto a good ball from Kye and lifted the ball above the keeper only to see it hit the bar and go to safety.  It was 6 soon after, Jack involved again as he controlled the ball before playing a defence splitting pass to Charlie who wrapped up his hatrick with the keeper advancing.
As they had done in the first half, West End scored at the end.  Really good all round display from all players in all areas of the pitch.  Shape, covering and movement served us so well.  With so many good performances, Charlie took man of the match.  He scored a hatrick but his all round performance was top drawer from start to finish.
