I don’t think we deserved to win today, but the losing scoreline of 4-1 to Mountfield Rovers (who have just dropped down from Division 3) doesn’t reflect the game in any way. I can’t remember losing so heavily when we dominated play so much. But playing a team who took an early lead and were comfortable with playing on the breakaway, they found us out several times and only for a great performance from Ryan in net, it could have been more. Saying that, we could quite easily have scored 6 or more ourselves such was that dominance. Alas, we missed the clinical finishing of Bailey who was out injured and the defensive options of Billie, also out injured and Elijah who couldn’t make it today.
Can’t fault any of the boys for effort, they played their hearts out and at times played some fantastic football. The passing movements at times were as good as I’ve seen this season.
2 nil down in the first 10 minutes because of the breakaways, we pulled one back through Ellis and I was confident of pushing on from there. But the need to push forward and with no luck in front of goal meant we were exposed at the back, Mountfield took advantage and scored two more.
But well played Ryan, Tom, Fatai, Hadiur, Ellis, Zain, Arsalan and Ibrahim.  Another day, another result. Unfortunately our wretched luck in the cup competitions continues.
