Under 10s Reds v Middleton on 17/2/18 Under 10s Reds v Middleton on 17/2/18

Played Middleton and drew 1-1.

We were without Leland who was away.

It was a well contested and close game where I felt we should have won but we didn’t pass as well as we have in the past and it cost us.

They played without a striker and when they attacked all their players were going forward which meant we had numerous opportunities to hit them on the break as there were times when Sam was upfield with no one marking him where all it needed was a long ball. We had too many players either taking on their man when there was no need as we had a man available for the pass, or taking four or five touches when a man was open and un-marked for a quick pass.

We took the lead through Michael who evaded a few tackles across the box before finishing well on his left foot into the far corner.

They equalized in the second half following a strong run from one of their many midfielders.

Liam made some good saves and also made himself big on two one-on-ones where he forced the player wide each time before they shot and missed.

Stephen did well as a striker for his first time as Sam had to come off for a stitch. He showed good awareness and strength and was unlucky not to score when he pulled one shot wide.

Will also really pleased me as he never stopped shouting from the back and really marshaled his defence well in one of his best performances this season.

In summary it was a game we should have won, and we need to go back to basics in training and work on our passing/moving.
